A black limousine parked beside a private jet on an airfield

Private aviation clients do not wait. They land at a small airport you may never have visited, walk across the apron and expect the car to be there. If you run VIP or executive work, sooner or later one of them flies somewhere you do not cover.

That is when an FBO chauffeur service you can farm out to becomes useful. You keep the client, a verified local chauffeur meets the aircraft, and the money is settled before anyone turns a wheel.

This post explains what makes FBO pickups different and how to hand them off on LimoFarmOut without losing control of the trip.

What an FBO is, and why it changes the pickup

An FBO, or fixed-base operator, is the business at an airport that serves private and business aircraft: fuelling, parking, a passenger lounge and a place for the car to meet the plane. Some private flights use the FBO at a major airport. Many use smaller general aviation airports near a city, such as Teterboro outside New York.

For the chauffeur, that changes a few things:

Airport access rules for vehicles on the airfield are set locally by the airport and the FBO. The FAA's airports pages and pilot groups such as AOPA are good starting points on how general aviation airports work in the United States. A chauffeur who already works that FBO will know its routine, which is the strongest reason to use a local driver.

Put the tail-side details on the job

When you post the job, give the chauffeur what they need to find the aircraft and the passenger:

The chauffeur sees these details on the job before accepting, so the driver who takes it knows it is a ramp or lounge pickup and has agreed to your standards.

Money settled before the wheels touch down

Every job on LimoFarmOut is paid by card when you post it and held until the trip is done. The chauffeur sees a prepaid job with the payout shown, so you are not negotiating payment terms with a stranger while your client is in the air.

If the passenger changes plans on the ground, extras are handled on the platform: waiting time, overtime, parking, extra stops and tolls are added at the end, you approve them, and they are paid through LimoFarmOut. If you need the car to stay with the client, an hourly job works better. Hourly bookings have a minimum of 3 hours for sedans and SUVs and 5 hours for other vehicles.

The chauffeur's payout is released automatically within 48 hours of drop-off. For a new client, the first 5 trips are paid within 84 hours, to protect everyone from card fraud. You can read the full journey in prepaid farm-out explained.

Discretion is built into the trip

The client who flies privately is the client you least want to lose. LimoFarmOut keeps the relationship with you:

The passenger receives texts in your company's name with the chauffeur, vehicle and a live tracking link.

Choosing the right chauffeur for VIP work

You can collect offers instead of setting a fixed price. Offers show vehicle photos, ratings, free waiting time and extra-hour rates side by side, so you can pick the S-Class with the strong rating over the cheapest bid.

Every chauffeur's licences, commercial insurance and vehicle documents are checked by a person before they can take jobs. LimoFarmOut checks that the insurance is in place; it does not provide it. Documents get reminders 30, 7 and 1 days before they expire, and an expired required document stops that driver from taking work.

For scheduled airline arrivals, the process is a little different, covered in farming out airport meet-and-greet pickups. And because private flights move around, read delayed flights and farm-out jobs as well.

Chauffeurs: how to win private aviation work

If you drive near a business aviation airport, this is good work to be ready for. Keep your documents current, upload clear vehicle photos and keep your waiting terms realistic. Ratings matter here more than anywhere, because the operator choosing between offers is protecting a high-value client.

Frequently asked questions

What is an FBO pickup?

It is a pickup at a fixed-base operator, the part of an airport that serves private and business aircraft. The car usually meets the passenger at the FBO lounge or, where allowed, beside the aircraft.

Can I list the FBO name and dress code on the job?

Yes. Add the FBO name and address to the pickup details and list dress code and amenities as conditions. The driver confirms each condition before accepting.

What if the private flight arrives late?

Waiting time and overtime are added at the end of the trip, you approve them, and they are paid through the platform.

Can I choose the vehicle and the chauffeur?

You can collect offers with vehicle photos, ratings, free waiting time and extra-hour rates side by side, and pick the one that fits your client.

Does LimoFarmOut insure the transfer?

No. LimoFarmOut checks that every chauffeur holds valid commercial insurance before they can take jobs. It does not provide insurance.
