The 10% Launch Fee Offer: What It Means for Operators

LimoFarmOut charges operators a 10% platform fee per job until 31 Dec 2027 instead of the standard 20%. How the launch offer works and how to use it well.

Every farm-out arrangement has a cost, even when nobody calls it a fee. In a favour-based network you pay with goodwill, with the rides you owe back, and with the time spent chasing a colleague for the money. A platform puts a clear number on it instead.

On LimoFarmOut that number is the platform fee, and right now it sits at half the standard rate. This post explains the launch offer, who pays it, what it covers, when it ends and how to make the most of the window.

The offer in one paragraph

Operators pay a platform fee when they post a job. The standard fee is 20% of the driver payout. Until 31 December 2027, every job posted is charged a launch rate of 10% instead, with a minimum of $5 per job. Any tax that applies to the fee in the job's country is added on top of the fee. Drivers pay nothing on jobs at either rate, and joining is free for everyone.

Who pays it, and who doesn't

The fee is paid by the poster: the limo company, dispatcher or owner-operator who farms out the trip. It is added on top of the payout, not taken out of it.

That has two practical effects:

If you sign up as "I drive and farm out", the same rule applies to you in both directions. When you take a job, you keep the full payout. When you post one, you pay the fee.

What the fee pays for

It helps to know what you are buying. For each job posted, the fee covers the machinery that makes a farm-out safe between people who may never have met:

The fee is the only way LimoFarmOut earns. There is no subscription, so the platform does well only when jobs are posted and filled.

How the rate is fixed for each job

A job is charged the fee that was shown when it was posted. The terms are explicit about this: fee changes don't affect jobs already paid, and notice is given before a change applies.

So if you post a trip on 30 December 2027 for a pickup in February 2028, the 10% launch rate applies to that job, because that is the rate you saw and paid. You don't need to rush trips through the board before the date, and you don't risk a surprise charge on work already booked.

Keep in mind the practical limit on booking ahead: jobs can't be posted too far into the future, because card funds can only be held for a limited time. Post when the booking is firm.

Worked numbers at both rates

Using the same $120 airport payout:

On a $300 wedding car the difference is $30 against $60. On a short $40 hop, the $5 minimum applies at the launch rate. For a full breakdown, including rising prices and refunds, see the true cost of farming out a limo trip.

Five ways to use the launch window well

1. Test the cities you avoid. Trips in unfamiliar cities are the ones operators most often turn down. At 10%, posting one to see how fast it fills costs little. The global hub shows the countries where members work most.

2. Build a bench of drivers you trust. Every trip is rated. Over the next months you can learn which chauffeurs in each city suit your clients, and the ratings stay with them.

3. Move overflow off group chats. If your overflow currently goes into WhatsApp groups with no proof of payment, the launch rate is a cheap way to try a prepaid process with the same people.

4. Set your waiting terms properly. The fee is a percentage of the payout. Clear free-waiting minutes and an extra-hour rate on each job avoid disputes that cost more than any fee.

5. Set up your accounting now. Monthly statements show the payout, the fee, the tax on the fee and any refunds for every job you post. Starting clean at the launch rate makes the year-end simple. See statements for your accountant.

What happens after 31 December 2027

From 1 January 2028, jobs posted are charged the standard rate shown on the site, which is 20%, unless LimoFarmOut announces otherwise. Jobs posted and paid before that keep the rate they were charged. Drivers continue to pay no fee on jobs either way.

If the numbers matter to your pricing, the simplest step is to note the date in your diary and review your client rates for 2028 in good time.

Frequently asked questions

What is the LimoFarmOut launch fee?

Operators pay a platform fee of 10% of the driver payout, with a $5 minimum, on every job posted until 31 December 2027. The standard rate is 20%.

Do drivers pay the platform fee?

No. The fee is paid by the poster on top of the payout. Drivers keep the full payout at any rate.

If I post before the deadline for a trip after it, which rate applies?

The fee shown when the job was posted is the fee charged. Fee changes don't affect jobs already paid.

Is there a monthly fee as well?

No. Joining is free and there is no monthly fee for drivers, fleets or operators. The platform fee per job is the only charge, apart from the optional $2 instant cash-out a driver can choose.

Is tax added to the platform fee?

Where tax applies in the job's country, it is charged on the platform fee only. The driver's payout is not taxed by LimoFarmOut.
