You open your account and one of your documents has a red label: Turned down. It is frustrating, especially when you were one item away from taking jobs. The good news is that it is almost always quick to fix, and you are told exactly what the problem is.

This guide explains what happens when a chauffeur document is rejected on LimoFarmOut, the usual reasons, and how to re-upload it the right way.

What "turned down" means

A person on the verification team reviewed your upload and could not approve it as it stands. It is not a judgement on you as a driver. It means something in that particular file did not meet what the slot asks for.

The reviewer cannot turn a document down without giving a reason. The system requires one, so that you can fix it. You will find that reason in two places:

Required items that are turned down open automatically on the Documents screen, so they are easy to spot.

What it does to your account

While a required document is turned down, it counts as one of the things still needed before you can take jobs, the same as one that is missing. If you were already verified and a renewal is turned down, the earlier approved document still counts until its own expiry date, but you will want to fix the renewal well before then.

The driver agreement also lists a required document being rejected as one of the reasons an account can be paused. Fixing the upload is how you clear it.

The most common reasons

These are the patterns that typically lead to a document being turned down. Your notice will say which applies.

It is the wrong document for the slot. A payment receipt instead of the insurance certificate. A second copy of your driver's licence in the chauffeur licence slot. A personal policy where commercial cover is required. See commercial vs personal insurance for chauffeurs.

It cannot be read. Glare across a laminated card, a blurry photo, a corner cut off, text too small after heavy compression.

Part of it is missing. Only the front of the driver's licence, when front and back are asked for. Only page one of a certificate that shows the expiry on page two.

The details do not match. The number, issuer or expiry date typed in the form differs from what is printed. Or the plate number does not match the registration and insurance.

It is not current. An old certificate uploaded by mistake, or a licence that has been replaced.

The photo does not show what is asked for. A vehicle front photo at night with half the car missing. An inside photo that does not show the passenger seats. A profile photo taken in the car with sunglasses on.

How to re-upload

  1. Read the reason on the item or in the email.
  2. Fix the actual problem. Get the right document, retake the photo, or correct the details. Re-sending the same file will get the same answer.
  3. Open Documents, find the item and choose "Upload a new one".
  4. Fill in the number, issuer and expiry date exactly as printed.
  5. Attach the file: a photo or PDF up to 5 MB, or for photo slots a JPEG, PNG or WebP image.
  6. Submit. Your earlier turned-down upload is replaced, and the item goes back to "Waiting for review".

A person usually reviews it within a business day. For tips on clean files, read how to prepare document photos and PDFs.

If you think the decision is wrong

Sometimes the reviewer is missing context. Your licence may come from an authority with an unusual format, or your insurer may issue cover in a way that looks different from most. If that is the case, write to support@limofarmout.com with the document name and a short explanation. If you are unsure what a regulator issues, check their own site; for example Transport for London or the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission describe their licences and vehicle requirements.

What not to do: upload someone else's document, or alter a document to make it pass. The driver agreement forbids false, altered or borrowed documents, and it can lead to removal from the platform.

An example

Say your commercial insurance was turned down with the note that the certificate does not show the type of cover. You open the email from your insurer, find the certificate page that states the cover is for hire, and download it as a PDF. You check the policy number and expiry date in the form match that page, and that the vehicle named on it carries the same plate as your plate photo. Then you choose "Upload a new one", attach the PDF and submit.

The item goes back to "Waiting for review". When it is approved, the email tells you the document is approved and until when, and whether anything else is still needed before you can take jobs.

Frequently asked questions

Why was my chauffeur document turned down?

The reason is written on the item under Documents and in the email you receive. Common causes are the wrong document, an unreadable photo, a missing side or page, or details that do not match.

How do I re-upload a turned-down document?

Open Documents, find the item, choose "Upload a new one", correct the details, attach the fixed file and submit. It goes back to "Waiting for review".

Can I take jobs while a document is turned down?

Not if it is a required document, unless an earlier approved version is still current. Every required document must be approved and current to take jobs.

How long does the second review take?

A person usually reviews uploads within a business day.

What if I disagree with the decision?

Email support@limofarmout.com with the document name and a short explanation of why you think it should be approved.
