Limo No-Shows and Late Cancellations: Get Paid Anyway
How owner-operators are protected from passenger no-shows and late cancellations on prepaid farm-out jobs, and the habits that make sure you get paid.

You turned down another job for this one. You drove forty minutes to the airport, paid for parking and stood at arrivals with a name sign. The flight landed an hour ago. Nobody came. Then the operator who gave you the trip sends a message: "Sorry, client changed plans, can't pay for that one."
For a one-car business, that's a lost evening and real money out of your pocket. No-shows and last-minute cancellations are part of chauffeured work, but on an informal farm-out the driver usually carries the whole cost.
On LimoFarmOut, the limo no-show and late cancellation policy is set before you accept, and the money is already held. Here's how it protects you, and what you need to do to make sure it works.
Why the money being held changes everything
On a prepaid job, the poster pays the full price by card when they post, and the money is held until after the trip. So when a passenger doesn't appear or a poster cancels late, nobody has to decide whether to pay you. The rules decide, and the money is already sitting there.
Compare that with a trip passed along by text, where a cancellation leaves you arguing with someone who has already spent the money elsewhere. Why chauffeurs are saying no to jobs offered by text and WhatsApp covers that problem in more detail.
Passenger no-show: paid in full
If you're at the pickup and the passenger doesn't show up, the job counts as a passenger no-show and you are paid the full payout.
The key words are "at the pickup". Your trip statuses are the record of that. Tap En route when you leave and On location when you arrive. Your location is shared with the poster while the trip page is open, so the poster can see you there. A driver who arrives but forgets to tap On location makes their own case harder.

Late cancellation: paid for holding the time
If the poster cancels less than 24 hours before pickup, after you've accepted, you're paid part of the payout for holding the time. The rest goes back to the poster. The exact refund is shown to the poster before they confirm the cancellation, so there's no argument about the number.
If the poster cancels 24 hours or more before pickup, they get a full refund of the job amount. That's fair: you still have a day to fill the slot, and job alerts on your phone make that realistic. See filling empty hours with prepaid farm-out work.
Pickup time changes
Sometimes a job isn't cancelled, it moves. A poster can change the pickup time and you see the new time at once in the chat and on your trip screen. When a job you already accepted is pushed later, you can hand it back with no strike. That protects you when a new time clashes with your own bookings. Check the chat first: the poster may be able to work around you.
Airport delays and waiting time
Most "where is the passenger?" moments happen at airports, and most of them are delays, not no-shows. Airport pickups on LimoFarmOut include flight tracking, so you can see a delay before you leave home.
When you do wait, check the job's terms. A job can say how much free waiting is included and what each extra hour costs. Waiting beyond that is added when you close the trip and paid once the poster approves it. Parking is added the same way. Getting paid for waiting time, tolls and extras explains the steps.
When the facts are disputed
Occasionally a poster and driver disagree about what happened. After a trip is marked complete, the poster has 24 hours to open a dispute, which freezes the money for that job. Both sides give the facts, and the team may review job records, chat history and trip location data. The team can pay the driver in full, refund the poster in full, or split the payment.
That's why good habits matter:
- Tap every status in real time. Your location data and timestamps are your evidence.
- Use the trip chat for anything important. "I'm at door 3, arrivals level" in the chat is a record. The same words in a private message are not.
- Wait sensibly before calling it a no-show. Contact the passenger through the private line, and tell the poster in the chat what you're seeing.
Your side of the bargain
Protection works both ways. If you accept a job, you're expected to run it. Giving a job back after accepting returns it to the board and adds a strike; three strikes pause your account. If a driver doesn't show up, the poster can open a dispute, and the driver's account may be paused.
So only accept jobs you can do, and leave yourself enough time between trips. A reliable record is also what earns you better work, as covered in building a chauffeur rating that wins work.
Planning around flights
Many no-show scares start with a flight. If you're booking travel for yourself or a client, you can search flights and hotels with our travel partner here.
